Dear friends, I want to share with you the joyful news! My family has extended! On April 9th at 5.25 pm I gave birth to our wonderful girl. My husband and I gave her the name Alexandra. She was born 3.750 kg, and 54 cm long. We were assisted by very professional doctors of maternity hospital #1 of Volgograd city, MD T.A.Verovskaya and obstetrician A.V.Stepanchenko. During my pregnancy I was observe by MD I.D.Yanichkina.

Around 11 am on April 9th I was brought into the maternity room where I spent the next six and the half hours. The process was extremely long and very painful. But I had to be patient in order to be ready and in order for my baby to be ready. From time to time anesthesiologist helped me. At 5.15 pm the doctors commanded, “On your mark!”

Annual competition of youth sports school Kaustik for the prizes of Olympic champion Tatyana Lebedeva took place in Volgograd. This year about 600 young athletes aged 13-14 from more than 10 regions of Russia. For the first time foreign athletes also took part in this competition. Long jumper Valentina Kalmykova from the Italian club Olimpia Nova Nettunu is yet the only foreign participant. Valentina is of Russian origin, she speaks fluent Russian, and she is a good athlete. In today’s competition she climbed the podium twice. She won long jump (5.36 m) and then she placed second in 60 meters (8.12 s).Boys showed good results in triple jump. The winner Pavel Markin from Samara region jumped 13.15 m. Diana Kudzieva from Volgograd region placed first in girls’ 60 m with a result of 7.93 s, establishing the new record of the competition. Kristina Malaya from Volgograd with the result 5.29m placed second in long jump and Kristina Yung from Saratov region jumped at 5.23 m. Tatyana Lebedeva said, “Level of the competition is constantly growing. More and more athletes from various regions of Russia want to participate. Next year this competition may gain the international status. Right now we are having negotiations with representatives of Ukraine, Belarus, Estonia, Finland and others. Vladimir Kalmykov from the Italina club Olimpia Nova Nettunu told us that next year he is planning to bring not 1 but 5 or 7 athletes!”

On December 19th, 2010 in Volgograd will take place a traditional athletics competition for the prizes of Olympic champion Tatyana Lebedeva. 21/10/2010 members of the Volgograd Regional Parliament have accepted the amendment to the regional law on physical culture and sports. The newly accepted amendment guarantees lifelong material security to Olympic athletes and their coaches who are residing in Volgorad region. Tatyana Lebedeva is one of the draftsmen of this law. Tatyana has stated that, “This law will allow coaches and outstanding athletes to continue their activities after finishing their sports career without experiencing material problems. This law will also solve the issue of outflow of highly qualified coaches into other regions and countries”.

Today I have shown a rather good result: 6.64 meters. I am glad that today my leg allowed me to jump; it did not bother me as much as I expected. This fact allows me to look into my future with enthusiasm. Now I only need to increase the amount of jump training and to work on the improvement of my takeoff run. And I need to compete, compete and compete! I hope to improve my result in this season, and this can happen at the upcoming competitions in Slovenia and Switzerland.
I was glad and surprised at high results of my rivals. I would like to wish them to show such good results during the whole season, including the main event, i.e. European Championship in Barcelona. In two weeks I will attentively watch the competition at the Russian National Championship.

On June 10^th, 2010, was inaugurated the renovated swimming pool of the Volgograd State Academy of Physical Culture.
Tatyana Lebedeva was present there among other city officials. She greeted all those present and wished that there would be more such inaugurations of newly built or renovated sports facilities.
Tatyana said, “There is no doubt that Volgograd State Academy of Physical Culture is one of the best educational institutions in Russia. The Academy trained many specialists of high level and, of course, athletes, whom not only Volgograd region is proud of but the whole Russia. I hope that this wonderful water complex will become one of the main centers of athletes’ training for the upcoming Olympics in London and for other competitions, and that it will be a good training base for young athletes and students”.

This summer I am planning to compete starting at the end of June. My first international competition will be the Brothers Znamensky Memorial, which will take place in Zhukovsky town, Moscow region, on June 26 th. Undoubtedly, I am aware of the fact that my physical shape is not the best one because I am not able to fulfill the necessary amount of training on time. I began practicing my jumps very recently because my leg used to hurt after hard workouts and I needed long rest. I am planning to compete only in a few commercial competitions, however, everything will depend on my health condition. If I will recover fast enough, I hope to get in shape by August. In spite of the fact that it will be the end of the season, I will be able to get in right shape, to give my body a certain impulse, to understand that I can jump again. My main task for this season is not to make things worse, not to get injured anew, just compete with my rivals and not to lose competitive practice.
